The Skull Raiders were an ancient band of pirates who plagued Okoto.

HistoryEdit

Invasion of OkotoEdit

Thousands of years ago, the Skull Raiders, under the command of Kulta, besieged the peaceful Okotans. They were eventually defeated and driven into a mountain range in the Region of Stone by the Mask Makers Ekimu and Makuta, as well as the Protectors of that time. Afterwards, Makuta approached the pirates in secret and offered them a chance to rule beside him once he began the use of the Mask of Ultimate Power. When the Great Cataclysm reshaped Okoto, the Skull Raiders were trapped in caverns beneath the mountains, which they eventually built into a sprawling underground city, known as Skull Raider City

Kulta's EscapeEdit

Kulta eventually discovered a way to escape and allied himself with Makuta's spirit, all that remained of the former Mask Maker, who instructed most of the Skull Raiders to remain in their city. Kulta then served Makuta as leader of the Skull Army.

Second DefeatEdit

A native hawk possesed by a Skull Spider eventually brought a pair of Okotan children from the Region of Stone to the Skull Raiders. Later Toa Lewa was captured too. Then the Skull Raiders eventually captured the other Toa and the recently revived Ekimu, who they despised and blamed for their long imprisonment. A series of battles subsequently broke out, but Kulta and the Skull Raiders were eventually imprisoned once more when Ekimu brought down the ceiling of their city upon them. Though they were now formally defunct, many Skull Raiders remained at large.

InfrastructureEdit

Kulta headed the Skull Raiders and held ultimate authority. Beneath him were lieutenants and tribal commanders, it is unknown how much power they had over the Skull Raiders.

CultureEdit

The Skull Raiders were violent and savage, perfectly willing to harm innocents in order to fulfill their goals. They also speak their own gutteral language and, with the exception of Kulta, do not understand the Okotan language, though Ekimu is capable of speaking of theirs. Skull Raiders were known for not making idle threats and followed their own barbaric code of honour, which demanded they answer any insult. They also delighted in gladiatorial combat.
