Stars are a omnipresent aspect of life on Okoto. The islanders use them for navigation, as well as various rituals and as a source of spiritual reassurance.
Among the countless stars that are recognized by the Okotans, six are known by distinct names. Each shares a name with a Toa; though the stars are technically named for the individuals, they are often known by the epithet "star of... ". As an example, the star by the name of "Pohatu" is often known as the "star of stone". After the defeat of Umarak and the halting of Makuta's encroachment on the land of the living, each of the Toa abandoned his or her physical body and returned to their respective star.
